Beginnings – The First 20 Years

In 1998, Nick Fitzpatrick started hauling among other things hay and machinery on a hotshot style rig. He was the first driver and quickly hired his second driver Dave Stewart. The company was based in Liberty NY and served the local area. Over the next 20 years through various spurts of growth the fleet grew to over 45 specialized power units and 200 trailers including step-decks, reefers, straight trucks, dry vans, and double drops along with loading and rigging equipment. The asset based company primarily served the agricultural industry and operated yards in Montgomery NY, Hawk Springs WY and Belle Glade FL.

    Aden Logistics Corp

In 2018 after 20 years operating the asset based trucking and agricultural focused business Nick decided to make a pivot and start a non-asset transportation brokerage company. Nick was very interested in expanding to serve a variety of industries and expand beyond the agricultural sector. Aden Logistics was founded in 2018 and was granted Motor Carrier Brokerage only authority by the FMCSA.

    Customer-Centric Approach

In the early days with the asset fleet as a sister company and the brokerage a new entity there were challenges managing two sister company operations. Nick came to the belief that an asset-based company and a brokerage should not be under the same roof because the goals of each company are completely different. An asset company must focus on keeping its trucks and drivers steadily busy, keeping equipment maintained and maintaining revenue per mile while staying safe. While a brokerage must focus on customer service perfection, always selecting the right driver to deliver and executing each load with precision. The two business types, at times, were not aligned so a decision was made to wind down and leave the asset business.

With goals and success in focus the team was able to maintain YOY revenue growth of 30% while increasing volume 70%, and customer count 100%.
